Distribution of food and gifts in kind

Prague North district of Warsaw is particularly strongly affected by the problem of poverty. Many of its residents still lack the basic necessities of daily existence. Distribution of gifts in kind and food project, which for years maintained by the Association "Open Door", is trying to reduce the scale of this phenomenon.

Thanks to cooperation with the sponsors Association has the means to reach those in need. Among the companies willing to returning gifts include: Carrefour, Biedronka, Dilmah, Wedel, Żabka, Marcol, Glupol, Ferraro Poland, Prague Bakery, Zielona Budka, Kamis, Wholesale meats "Hetman". The strategic partner is the SOS Food Bank, Food Gift from the Heart Foundation. Since the association each year establish new contacts, increasing the amount of food for distribution to the needy. The donors are also private persons.

The share donations are notified schools, Centre for Social Welfare, "New Newspaper Prague" and other NGOs. In this way, information about the project reaches the widest possible group of people. Because the association had time to enter permanently into the landscape North Prague, its residents often immediately know where to turn for help and report on their own.

The program can benefit the poor, with particular emphasis on disease and disability. Transmitted donations (clothing, hygiene products, toys, household appliances) are always new, unused stuff. Their issue is taking place in the canteen every day from 9-16. Canteen is obviously also a place of meals, able to accommodate several dozen people.

Basic operation of the project is to support food and material that improves living conditions and increases a beneficiaries sense of security. Expansion project consists of proposals to participate in economic activity, made to every adult recipient. The project also includes the organization of mutual aid among the persons involved. Important is also instilling the knowledge of the existence of institutions of social support, where you can get help.

Distribution of food and gifts in kind takes place every day, but especially intensified during the Easter and Christmas. They are involved in its volunteers and the beneficiaries themselves. Run monitoring and recording of food issued you to say that the aid goes where it is really needed. Currently, the estimated number of people covered by the support is about 1800 and is still increasing. It should be noted, however, that the demand for this type of assistance remains high and exceeds the capabilities of the Association.
